SPORT - Get into the swing of things

Crans-Montana offers sports fans an idyllic setting and first-class amenities. As well as the four golf courses that make it a world-famous destination for all fans of the game, there’s also a wide choice of summer sports activities to keep even the most active visitors happy. Whether you’re on the hiking or cycling trails, wakeboarding on the lake, or taking to the skies in a paraglider, this is where fun scales new heights. Crans-Montana is an absolute paradise for sports lovers.

Ultimate golf in the heart of the Alps

Three quality golf courses, a prestigious club, an indoor centre that is open all year round and the annual host of one of the most prestigious tournaments on the European tour, the Omega European Masters… this is what is on offer for golfers from all over the world on the Crans-Montana plateau.

Although Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club’s global reputation has been built on over a century of tradition, it is above all the exceptional setting that remains etched in the memories of those who play on the famous Severiano Ballesteros (18 hole) and Jack Nicklaus (9 hole) courses. It is difficult to concentrate on the little white ball when one of the most beautiful mountains in the Alps appears at every tee-off ! But in these surroundings, the mountains soothe and inspire golfers, and encourage unwavering precision and endless pleasure.

From the mountaintop down to the valley

With a network of 200 kilometres of road cycling routes, 177 signposted mountain bike, cross-country and enduro tracks, three downhill tracks ending in a Northshore zone and also dedicated e-bike routes, Crans-Montana offers a limitless playground and a variety of possibilities for all cyclists.

And what do all of these routes have in common? Impeccable signposting, a variety of natural scenery and breathtaking panoramic views!

Several "Swiss Bike Hotel" certified establishments and lots of specialised shops and qualified guides welcome visitors in search of a cycling holiday in a sunny region.

Everything is easy to get to from Sierre thanks to the Sierre-Montana funicular, which carries bikes at no extra cost, and the cable cars which enable you to reach the mountains 365 days a year.

At a trail running pace

Thanks to its topography, from the Rhone Valley at an altitude of 500 m up to the Plaine Morte Glacier at 3,000 m, Crans-Montana is an ideal playground for trail running. And to make the most of this sporting discipline, 15 routes have been specifically planned and signposted for mountain trail running.

In total, no less than 200 km of routes have been mapped out, with a total of 15,800 m of elevation gain. With routes ranging from 2 km to 55 km, and elevation gain from 300 m to 4,200 m, there are routes for all levels and tastes, with four notable legendary uphills, and different routes from the famous Trail des Patrouilleurs race.

Alaïa Chalet

Actionsports' temple

Crans-Montana is already well-known for its parks (snowpark, bikepark and wakepark), but it is continually developing the choice for action sport fans.  The latest development is Chalet Alaïa, a veritable shrine to action sports.
High quality infrastructure such as trampolines, skatepark, indoor ramps, foam pits and bowls mean different sports can be practised year round. With over 5,000 m2 of indoor and outdoor infrastructure, French-speaking Switzerland now boasts the biggest and most complete action sports centre of its kind.

Crans-Montana is well-known for its top events and offers various sporting events throughout the year. Find out which ones will take place this summer:
