Fondation Opale

Expression through art

Through exhibitions, workshops, gatherings and publications, the Fondation Opale intends to install a permanent dialogue between Aboriginal art and contemporary art. Launched in June 2019, the ”Before Time Began” exhibition truly launched the Foundation’s artistic project, with works from the origins of contemporary Aboriginal art to mod-ern time. From June 14th, 2020 to April 2021, Fondation Opale presents “Resonances”, its new exhibition. Bringing together 50 contemporary Aboriginal and international artists, this five-chapter tour explores the fundamental theme of the human's place in the universe through their works.

Perpetuating the work carried out since 2013 by the Pierre Arnaud Foundation, the Opal Foundation settled in the heights of the village of Lens, on the Crans-Montana plateau. An open window on the fine arts and painting from here and elsewhere, this building took roots on the shores of Lake Louché, in the heart of a masterful alpine landscape. A daring architectural gesture but full of humility, the building is in total symbiosis with the surrounding nature. Its photovoltaic glass façade, a true technological prowess, reflects the silhouette of the mountains and the rippling waters, while the 1,000 m2 of exhibition space is bathed in sunlight.
