SUMMER PRESSKIT 2021 - CULTURE

CULTURE - Hidden treasures await

Crans-Montana is a destination with a story to tell, full of history and popular Valais traditions that travellers can disco - ver at the Grand-Lens museum, the Château de Vaas, and the Colombire Ecomuseum. All cultural tastes are admired, appreciated and shared here. Examples of our cultural diversity include: a museum of model trains for all the family; the Fondation Opale in Lens, which aims to create a permanent dialogue between aboriginal and contemporary art; the Vision Art Festival, which has helped to draw urban art away from large cities and into the heart of the Alps; and of course, the five galleries of Crans-Montana. Music, from popular to classical right through to electro, can also be heard at numerous concerts, events and festivals throughout the year.

Vision Art Festival

Taking urban art to new heights

Vision Art Festival brings art urban art to new heights! Vision Art Festival – the only festival of urban art in the mountains - a true open-air museum, with a star place on the main urban art festival scene, attracts artists from all over the world. The artwork is located at altitudes of between 1,500 and 3,000 metres, and can be seen at any time. Created in 2015, we are one of the 8 top towns for graffiti in Europe, with some of the highest murals in Europe!

Fondation Opale

Expression through art

From 13 June 2021, Fondation Opale presents BREATH OF LIVE. This exhibition, dedicated to the yadaki (didgeridoo), an emblematic instrument of Aboriginal Australia, and to contemporary creation from Arnhem Land, will immerse visitors into spaces of visual and sounic vibrations.

Through exhibitions and also workshops, meetings and publications, the Fondation Opale intends to establish a permanent dialogue between Aboriginal and contemporary art. The art centre in Lens owes its second life to the support and passion of Bérangère Primat. A Crans-Montana resident, this collector specialising in Aboriginal art wanted to give this art a European dimension.
