WINTER 2022/23 PRESSKIT - CULTURE

CULTURE - HIDDEN TREASURES AWAIT

Crans-Montana is a destination full of history and popular Valais traditions that travellers can discover at the Grand-Lens museum as well as the Colombire Ecomuseum. All cultural tastes are catered for, enjoyed and shared here. Examples of our cultural diversity include: a museum of model trains for all the family; the Opale Foundation in Lens, that brings together Swiss and international artists; the Vision Art Festival, which has helped to draw urban art away from large cities and into the heart of the Alps; and of course, the five galleries of Crans-Montana. Music from popular and classical through to electro can also be heard at numerous concerts, events and festivals throughout the year.

Fondation Opale

Between Aboriginal and Contemporary Art

Through exhibitions and also workshops, meetings and publications, the Fondation Opale intends to establish a permanent dialogue between Aboriginal and contemporary art. The art centre in Lens owes its second life to the support and passion of Bérangère Primat. A Crans-Montana resident, this collector specialising in Aboriginal art wanted to give this art a European dimension.

Until 6 November, you can visit the exhibition "Présent fugitif" of photographic works and wamulu (Australian desert flower) floor paintings that aim to render visible something immaterial, if only for a brief moment in time.

Vision Art Festival – Transforming grey into art

Since 2015, the Vision Art Festival has transformed Crans-Montana into an open-air art gallery. It is a unique concept, where artists from all over the world meet in a breathtaking setting, at altitudes between 1,500 and 3,000m, to brighten up the surfaces of unused buildings in Crans-Montana.
