SUMMER PRESSKIT 2020 - NATURE

NATURE - IN THE FACE OF FREEDOM

The purest air in Switzerland, the ever-present sun, and outstanding views create an ideal atmosphere to enjoy the natural treasures that Crans-Montana has to offer. Nature’s charms are revealed in all their aspects here; diverse forests, numerous lakes, the Plaine Morte Glacier at 3,000 metres, the verdant mountain pastures and magnificent vineyards.

Grandeur Nature

Escape into Grandeur Nature

The Grandeur Nature area is a place for rejuvenation and escape. A chance to relish a deep breath of fresh air just a few minutes away from the resort, enjoying peace and quiet in the heart of untamed Nature alongside exceptional views.

Grandeur Nature also offers a programme of free weekly activities, inviting you to discover the treasures that Crans-Montana’s natural scenery has to offer. Whether it’s walking alongside a ‘bisse’ stream in the forest or through an alpine pasture in summer, or on snowshoes in winter, passionate local guides will show you their favourite places and make it a rewarding experience.

In July and August, Grandeur Nature offers coaching in trail running, a woodwork workshop, construction of a mountain cabin, cheese making, foraging and tasting wild plants, yoga walks and a walk accompanied by horses.

Lovers of the great outdoors will not be disappointed, and they can also enjoy savouring local specialities in idyllic surroundings, or explore how Alpine life would have been in the past at the Colombire Ecomuseum.

Hiking

Walking routes for everyone

The huge diversity of natural scenery in the Crans-Montana region makes it a key destination for walking. From picturesque vineyards to green prairies irrigated by the ‘bisses’ (irrigation streams), forests and clear mountain lakes, the eternal snow of the glacier, passing by historic villages and mountain chalets, all that is left to do is to choose your route!

In all, a vast network made up of 320 km of signposted paths offers infinite possibilities for relaxing walks, or more demanding excursions. Those who enjoy hiking can recharge their batteries in natural surroundings, while enjoying the sunshine and panoramic views over the most beautiful peaks in the Alps.

Les bisses

These wonderful walks at the water's edge

Discover the region while following one of its five bisses, or irrigation streams, these truly historical monuments in the Valais landscape which date back to the 14th century. Back then, the construction of these irrigation streams allowed water to be transported from a spring located far away to cultivated land. Today, the bisses provide wonderful walks on gentle slopes which enable you to discover nature in all her glory, whilst also enjoying outstanding views.

In the Crans-Montana region, some of the best known are the Bisse du Ro, which takes you from Lake Tseuzier along towering rock faces, crossing a 120m high footbridge, or the Bisse du Tsittoret, which leads to the wild Tièche Valley, and offers the most beautiful panoramic views in the region. However there are many others that also deserve to be explored.

Our Lakes

Explore our lakes and the surrounding areas

Thanks to its high plateau, Crans-Montana offers many lakes and ponds that delight walkers, those who love water activities (pedalo, stand-up paddleboard, wakeboard) and sunbathers.

The five main stretches of water are located in the heart of the resort, which makes a ten kilometre-long themed walk possible, around Etang-Long, Etang Grenon, and Icogne, Chermignon and Moubra lakes.

This "water" walk is easily accessible and designed for the whole family.

For bikes, we suggest the "5 lake ride".

Find out more about the different lakes, which are the central points of interest of the tour, below, as well as all the activities you can enjoy in the surrounding areas.
